Teflon is an inert material, therefore it has excellent resistance to most mineral and organic chemicals such as acids, bases and solvents. Teflon is generally used in the presence of aggressive chemicals and is often utlilized as a bore liner to shield pipe gaskets from chemical attack.
As a general rule, Teflon:
• Is good for use with petrol and oils
• Is good for use with acids and alkalis
• Has good ozone resistance
• Has good impermeability to gases
• Seals well at temperatures of up to 260°C
